About Grower
Marcelo Araújo
I believe that everything in my life revolves around coffee, my family, my safe haven, and the great friendships I have made over all these years, which is why I am a great coffee enthusiast. Every story is with coffee, and our quest is always to improve quality, to always evolve, but without forgetting sustainability, which is the foundation of everything.

About
Production
The programming of the agricultural year is developed by analyzing the results of soil and leaf analyzes, the production of fruits from the next harvest and the incidence of pests and diseases in the region, optimizing the use of available resources. Regarding the cultural treatments executed are carried out organic fertilizations using the manure produced by the cattle raised in the property; spraying; control of the weeds through ecological brush cutters. Monitoring of plantations is also carried out by monitoring the incidence of pests and diseases. The whole process is recorded generating a traceability system.
About
Harvest
For the harvest a planning is carried out where the variations of the maturation of each plot and the structure available for the processing of the fruits are evaluated, estimating the amount of fruits to be harvested per day. When the fruits are at the apex of ripening with most of the ripe fruit, the harvest is started. The process usually takes place between the months of May and August, and it is performed both manually selectively and mechanically through harvesters. For the manual harvest the employees receive all necessary equipment and for the mechanized harvest the harvesters have the number of rods, speed and vibration adjusted.
About
Region
Southern Minas Gerais is one of Brazil’s most productive coffee producing areas. This region has grown Arabica coffee since the 1850s and is characterized by rolling hills, a mild climate averaging 23° C, and high elevations.
While some of the largest coffee producing properties in Brazil are located in Sul de Minas, more than half of the region’s producers are small to medium-sized farms. Sul de Minas accounts for, on average, 30% of Brazil’s coffee production.
The mountainous terrain, reaching up to 1400 meters above sea level, is ideally suited for growing coffee and Sul de Minas has increased production quality through investments in infrastructure and sustainability measures. The most commonly cultivated varieties are Yellow Catuai and Mundo Novo, with some farms also growing Icatu, Obatã and Red Catuai.
Most of the coffee produced is processed as Natural and the final cup profiles are full bodied, with low acidity and fruity aromas.

About
Sustainability
A constant challenge is the adaptation of the standards required in environmental and labor terms, in this way Fazenda Conceição follows and respects all Brazilian labor and environmental laws, and all employees are supported so that they can have a quality life. Courses and trainings are also provided for the staff to work safely and efficiently. In the environment, nature is properly protected, and the farm is structured so that the processes are carried out efficiently without any excess harmful to the environment.
Final
Message
"I learned that coffee farming is democratic throughout its chain, it is an activity that employs people with the most diverse qualification levels distributing enough wealth in the region. My dream is that every day we can make our business more sustainable for us and especially for future generations" Marcelo Barbosa Araújo.
