About Grower
Danilo Mesquita de Andrade
The farm, located in Três Pontas, in the southern part of Minas Gerais, constantly invests in modern practices, resulting in coffees of exceptional quality. Danilo Mesquita Andrade, an agronomist and the owner of the farm, has always prioritized environmental, social, and economic sustainability. Upon acquiring the property, he set out to organize its entire structure and production system to meet the desired standards. With the collaboration of his son, Frederico Andrade, they established the necessary direction to achieve certifications. Currently, the farm holds both Rainforest Alliance and Carbon Neutral certifications. The farm is a model of technology in coffee cultivation. Working with varieties such as Arara, Catuaí, Acaiá, and Mundo Novo, every stage—from cultivation to the final product—is marked by mechanization as a key differentiator. - Planting: GPS technology is used to mark and open planting furrows, increasing the efficiency of planting and crop management. - Irrigation: A drip irrigation system is employed, providing localized irrigation with high performance and precision. - Harvesting: The harvest is carried out almost entirely by machines, which brings speed and efficiency to the grain extraction stage. - Washing and sorting of beans: After harvesting, the coffee beans go through a washer, followed by the separation of floaters from the other beans (ripe and unripe), with the entire process being mechanized. - Optical sorter: After washing, the coffee is sent to equipment that performs multi-color CCD reading through internal cameras, separating ripe cherries from green beans. - Post-harvest processing structure: This includes state-of-the-art static and rotary dryers. This cutting-edge infrastructure enables fast processing of harvested beans while ensuring the preservation of their high quality.
About
Region
Southern Minas Gerais is one of Brazil’s most productive coffee producing areas. This region has grown Arabica coffee since the 1850s and is characterized by rolling hills, a mild climate averaging 23° C, and high elevations.
While some of the largest coffee producing properties in Brazil are located in Sul de Minas, more than half of the region’s producers are small to medium-sized farms. Sul de Minas accounts for, on average, 30% of Brazil’s coffee production.
The mountainous terrain, reaching up to 1400 meters above sea level, is ideally suited for growing coffee and Sul de Minas has increased production quality through investments in infrastructure and sustainability measures. The most commonly cultivated varieties are Yellow Catuai and Mundo Novo, with some farms also growing Icatu, Obatã and Red Catuai.
Most of the coffee produced is processed as Natural and the final cup profiles are full bodied, with low acidity and fruity aromas.
