Moacir Peroni e Família

The Campo Alegre Farm, about 150 years old, is one of the oldest in the Jeriquara region, SP. In 1960, it was acquired by Mr. Fernando Camargo de Sousa Barros, a farmer from the Itirapuã region, comprising approximately 250 alqueires. Mr. Orestes Peroni started as a farmhand in 1963 but was noticed by Mr. Fernando, who invited him to manage the farm and start growing coffee in an area previously covered by forest. In 1963, Mr. Orestes moved to the farm with his family. After that, his children acquired the property and began to manage it. Today, the farm has 90 alqueires and, in addition to coffee, has a chicken farm and cattle confinement. Many improvements have been made to the farm's structure, including machinery storage, coffee dryers, processing machines, water reserves, orchards, and biodegradable sewage treatment. The main house still maintains its original structures from the early century, while the colony houses have been replaced by housing for employees.

About

Region

Located in the northeastern region of the São Paulo state along the border with Minas Gerais, the region has elevations between 900 and 1,000 meters above sea level and an average annual temperature of 21 degrees Celsius. The gently rolling land, rich soil, the fresh water of the Rio Grande, and higher elevations make it a region well suited to coffee production.

Much of Alta Mogiana’s crops are grown on small family-owned farms, which are supported by established local infrastructure and easy access to new technologies. Skilled labor and reliable roads further facilitate the transport of the region’s coffee production.
